Imperial Sand Dunes Fee & Permit Information
Gordon’s Well
GPS Coordinates – 32° 43.10 N / 114° 56.16 W (Dune Buggy Flats via Google Maps)
From the dunes…
- From Glamis – Gecko Road, to the Sand Highway, go south until it ends above Dune Buggy Flats (main camping area)… go to far and you end up in the canal.
- From Buttercup – Buttercup, go west to the Gordons Well I-8 overpass (also known as a bridge). Take a right at the bottom of the hill (going left will take you to Pair-A-Dice
From the highway…
- Take the Gordons Well exit off of I-8. Go north. At “T”, go right past dumpsters and over the canal. Pay station is just past the canal.

Glamis
Map of Imperial County via Google Maps From Brawley – Hwy 78 east from Brawley. Gecko Rd. is the first road on the right inside the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation area. The Ranger Station is the building on the right. Continue on Hwy 78 past Osborne Lookout and Glamis Flats. Glamis proper is right before the rail road tracks. From Blythe – Continue passed Blythe and exit California Hwy 78 (Neighbors Blvd.). At the top of the ramp turn left (South), continue south on Hwy 78 through Ripley and Palo Verde (+/- 50 miles), once you cross the railroad tracks, you will see the Glamis Beach Store.

Camping Areas
Gecko Road camping areas consist of the Cement Flats, Pads 1 – 5, Gecko Campground, Keyhole, and Roadrunner. The pay station is on the right, just past the Ranger Station. There is also a pay phone and restroom close by. Dumpsters are near the pay station on the left.

Buttercup
GPS Coordinates – 32° 58.30 N / 115° 10.36 W From the dunes… From Gecko Road, take the Sand Highway south until it ends above Dune Buggy Flats. Then to the Gordons Well I-8 overcrossing. Cross bridge, and head east past Grays Well and Plank road. From the highway… I-8 to Grays Well exit. Buttercup campground is on the south side of the highway, to the left. Useful Information
